These are all great questions, we find that when surf fishing for Redfish, Black Drum and other similar inshore species the best bait to use is live shrimp or croakers. When it comes to Florida shark fishing, we prefer to use cut mackerel and other larger and bloodier baits. The general rule of thumb there is that the more the bait smells and the more blood it produces the more it will attract large apex predators like sharks! The best time for shore fishing in Florida is on the edges of the day. Early mornings and late afternoons around dusk tend to produce the most fish activity and can make for a really exciting time as a surf angler.
